Once you have exchanged messages with someone you have met via the NFLL Women's Friendship Network you may wish to meet that contact in person. While this is an exciting prospect we encourage you to be mindful that certain precautions need to be considered – the most important of these is your personal safety.

  1. Never give your address to anyone when you are ready to meet them. Instead arrange to meet in a public place.
  2. Be sure that someone who knows you will know what you are doing and where you are meeting your new contact.
  3. Never accept a ride from your new contact and be sure to have adequate transportation of your own available for your meeting.
  4. Take time to get to know someone before you give out any private info.
  5. Finally be aware that friendships come in all shapes and sizes and the one that you may develop will be different that the one someone else may develop. Your friend may end up being a phone friend who contacts you on a regular basis or a craft friend who shares similar interests in knitting or sewing or scrapbooking, etc. Your new friend may be someone who shares an interest in cards and games or a friend that calls you once a month to remind you to do a breast exam. No matter how or why your friendship develops it is yours to develop as you wish. Have fun and be safe and enjoy your new friend or friends.
