Welcome to the very first Article of the NFLL magazine. This article will become an essential part of the network by providing you and your friends with ideas, tips, general topics, etc. This magazine will be a great opportunity to share what possibilities exist when women get together. Our hope is that in the future other members of the network will submit their articles. We want to see what the possibilities are for all of us and you are invited to write up an article and email it to editor@nfllnetwork.com. Just have some fun doing it!!!!!
The original NFLL group just got back from a quick trip to LA where one of us had lived and worked for years until she transferred to Fresno. She was very familiar with the area and some special events she wished us all to see. Leaving on a Thursday morning we picked up one of our members in Hanford and enjoyed a light breakfast to reinforce us on our trip. We checked into our residence inn at the beach and proceeded to another member’s campground where she and her husband had been camping for a few days. After a quick lunch we headed out to Laguna Beach. We spent some time at the sawdust festival before heading into the pageant of the masters – a unique program of tableaus vivant that is now celebrating its 75th year. It was truly a fascinating and fun-filled experience. Late to bed that night!
After breakfast at our hotel the next morning – we suggest you always look for a place that offers a free breakfast – we headed out to the Getty museum. The museum is free – it is the parking that costs $8 – very worth it. We all went our different ways in the museum according to our interests but agreed to meet back at the entrance at a specific time. That worked well for us and we all got to see what exhibits we wanted to see. The Getty is a work of art in itself with marvelous stone architecture and gardens. The white stone will blind you in the full Southern California sunshine - but what a sight!
After the Getty we took our picnic lunch – we had stopped at a fancy food store earlier in the day – we headed out to the Hollywood bowl. We enjoyed a very fancy picnic on the grounds of the Hollywood bowl along with hundreds of other folks. In no time we were ready for an evening of music and song as the bowl presented Les Miserbles. it was a magic evening and even with the crickets cricketing we still hear some of the most wonderful music. It was a late night when we left the bowl but it was an evening to remember. After returning our friend to the campsite so she could complete the week camping with her husband the rest of us returned to the hotel and fell into bed. What a great night!
We didn’t rush out the next morning but enjoyed a slow breakfast beside the pool. Gathering out things we left la by 11am to return home to Fresno. On our way home we stopped at the outlet mall for some last minute shopping then arrived home tired but happy after a two day mini vacation with great friends.
Let us hear what you have done with your friends and we will post it on our site for others to read.
